Roller blind up!
erfal, manufacturer of venetian blinds, roller blinds and pleated blinds, entrusted us with erfal.de, an exciting, challenging project that kept our developers busy in particular.
At the beginning, as in the ideal case with all projects, there was a workshop. At erfal in Falkenstein/Vogtland, we brought together the expectations and demands of the customer for the new site and the ideas, as well as the technical know-how on our part.
A fundamental question: Which CMS? For a site of this size, Drupal or Six came into question. Following our advice, the choice fell on Six. In addition to the service, the enterprise solution has advantages for very large amounts of data. That means pages with many, many entries. On the erfal website alone there are around 5,000 pictures and 7,000 specialist dealers. With Six, this is not noticeable. The system also performs reliably fast when working in the extensively filled CMS.
We were only involved in an advisory capacity in the conception and design. Thus, the fillet pieces of the project are partly hidden under the surface, such as interfaces to other systems and a single sign-on (SSO).
The website addresses specialist dealers and end customers alike. The Design Finder or the »Living Inspiration Search« make it easy to find the right products. For us, this function meant building two interfaces for the product information systems (PIS). So the products are in the PIS and are imported into the website via the individually programmed interface. There is another interface for the download area, which provides pictures and information. The likewise central function »specialist dealer search« integrates the data via a fourth interface.
You have to register for both the integrated shop and the specialist dealer area. It is very practical if you can access both areas automatically with one registration. This is made possible by the so-called Single Sign-On (SSO). This function was also one of the special tasks for our programmers during this extensive project.
