The websites of public schools are usually far behind the possibilities and standards of, for example, company websites in terms of design and technology. This makes it difficult for interested parents and children to find their way around the websites or, more generally, to get a good impression of a school.
The Dreilinden Gymnasium in Berlin has had a website since autumn 2020 that shows what school websites could also look like if public schools had a marketing budget. What would that do to the perception of the institution of schools, how would a good website as a common digital place of a school affect the communal school life?
Henkelhiedl Co-founder Bärbl Hiedl knows the grammar school from the parents' point of view and has already implemented a sustainability project at the school together with the school management. The team at HENKELHIEDL was attracted by the idea of working with a school like a customer on a trial basis. The great need for schools in Germany to catch up in terms of digitalisation – in terms of the classroom itself, but also of basics such as a good website – once again became very clear in the course of the Corona crisis.
For Dreilinden Grammar School, the timing could hardly have been better. In the current crisis, it is more important than ever for the school to be able to provide up-to-date and clear information as well as keeping the community feeling alive even when the contact is limited.
